"Hootie Cutie..."

As promised, I am back with some completed pictures of my little owlie project.

He turned out soooooo darn cute!  I'm not really sure why I consider him a he, but he just looks like a little guy rather  than a gal!  So I started calling him Petey while I was finishing him up.

What do you think? Isn't he just the sweetest little owl ever!

I apologize for the gloomy skies behind his little head...a bit cloudy here today but I was anxious to snap some pics regardless!  All the specs for this little guy are at the end of this post...cause I love the pictures part way more than the writing part!!

Little Petey the Owl was more than happy to pose for his many (??) fans out there...

One more Petey...look to the left a bit more....

Being a prior teddy bear maker I wasn't completely happy until I did a bit of scuplting of the eyes, feet, etc. It's amazing how a long needle and some yarn can actually create a little personality to pop out!

The pattern was on Ravelry by Sandra Dobrosavljev here.  It was a piece of cake from start to finish with very clear directions and easy to follow pictures...even a moderate beginner would find this pattern doable.

I used a 3.25 hook and some stash of LionBrand DK called Cotton Bamboo from the LB Collection.  You can see all the colors by going here.  I didn't have any orange felt laying around at 11:00pm (gasp!) so I improvised by crocheting the beak - chain 4, sc in second chain from hook and in next two chains.  Ch 1 and repeat to make a little square beak.  A tuft of feather hair at the top was the final little addition.

Little Petey is part of a growing baby owl set I started for my daughter-in-law's church group to auction.  I found this fabric one day....

and couldn't resist buying a yard...with no clue what I was going to make!

I think the baby owl set is off to a good start...

So I'm off now to run and be inspired with more owl projects to add.

Have a great day out there in your part of the world....

Hoot-tastic :) Never would have thought of using a needle to give some spunk!
